“I aim to bring clarity and calm to the experience of infant sleep”
About
Children and babies thrive when they receive warmth, love, and consistency from their caregivers. I do not believe that there is any “one size fits all” plan when it comes to helping your little one sleep: every child is different, every family is different, and every plan we create is for your child specifically. I believe that “sleep is best,” and that there are many gentle ways to achieve more restful nights for you and your family.
At Nested & Rested it comes down to these core principles:
- Babies and children are happier and healthier when they experience more consolidated sleep;
- Parents and caregivers are happier, healthier, and more capable of caring for their children in the way they want to when they themselves experience more consolidated sleep;
- All goals and expectations should be in line with the appropriate developmental capabilities of your child;
- Warmth, love, presence, and consistency are keys to creating gentle and lasting changes in your child’s sleep and overall well-being; and,
- To make a change, you have to be ready for change.
One of the reasons I feel a call to sleep consulting is to address the difficulty of information overload when it comes to the topic of sleep. It is easy to experience overwhelm when searching for help with your child’s sleep; there are countless books, articles, Facebook groups, Youtube videos, and more. We have unlimited access to information that may or may not be accurate. How do you know what to believe and what to implement? Everyone has something to say, and because of the current era of global information sharing, we are subject to the opinions of more than just our mother-in-laws and aunties. Frankly put, it’s too much.
I am committed to alleviating this burden by completing extensive research for evidence-based information on infant and child sleep. I have synthesized and curated this research, which allows me to offer families information that is at once comprehensive and concise. I pair this with my expertise on infant and child development and extensive experience working with families in therapeutic relationships. I am a registered pediatric occupational therapist which means that I am part of a provincially and federally regulated college of professionals. I am a health care practitioner with experience in children’s hospitals, community settings, and private clinics. I overlap professionally with many other valuable health care practitioners, which serves to enrich my practice and the experience of my families.
I consider it an absolute privilege to work with families during these challenging but precious early years, and I look forward to working with you. Please e-mail me or visit the FAQ section for more information.
